MACL spreads Christmas cheer at Broomfield Hospital Children’s Ward

Christmas is a magical time for many families, but for children spending the festive season in hospital, it can feel very different.

With that in mind, the MACL team set out this December to bring a little brightness, comfort and joy to young patients at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

Earlier this week, MACL colleagues Office Manager Leila Stammers, HR Manager Daryl Bellingham and HR and Payroll Assistant Angela Guy visited the Children’s Ward with a van filled to the brim with gifts.

The MACL team personally selected a wide variety of toys and activities – including Lego sets, board games, books, crafts and fidget toys – all chosen to suit children across a wide age range, from newborns to teenagers.

These gifts were funded by MACL Ltd as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting its local community and making a positive difference where it matters most.

The team delivered the presents directly to the ward, where staff will distribute them to children who may be spending time in hospital over the Christmas period.

Speaking about the visit, Leila Stammers said: “Visiting the Children’s Ward was incredibly humbling. No child should have to spend Christmas in hospital, so if we can bring even a moment of joy or distraction during a difficult time, it’s worth every effort.

“We’re so grateful to the amazing staff at Broomfield Hospital for everything they do, and we’re proud that MACL can play a small part in helping families feel supported this Christmas.

“We hope the gifts bring a moment of joy, distraction and comfort to children and their families during what can be an emotional and challenging time.”

The incredible staff at Broomfield Hospital show dedication, compassion, and tireless work all year round. Their care plays a vital role not only in supporting young patients, but in helping families feel reassured and supported during difficult moments.

This small act of kindness is just one way MACL continues to invest in the community and spread a little seasonal cheer where it’s needed most.

From everyone at MACL, we wish the children, families and staff at Broomfield Hospital a warm, peaceful and joyful Christmas
